HEALTH AND WELLNESS
ACCOMMODATIONS & SPECIAL NEEDS
All children with varying abilities are welcome at YMCA Camp Lincoln. If a child is assigned a 1:1 aide during the school day for any reason, an aide is required to accompany the child during camp. We are unable to hire or provide aides. YMCA Camp Lincoln reserves the right to dismiss a child from program if the needs of the participant cannot be met, or if the child’s conduct is not in the best interest of program goals or the other participants. Call the Camp Director to discuss accommodations for children requiring special considerations.
We take great care in making sure that your child is having fun and staying safe at camp. But, illnesses and accidents can happen. YMCA Camp Lincoln staff members, life guards and counselors are CPR and first-aid trained and can respond to your child’s needs. Plus, a well-equipped health center is located on camp and is staffed by a trained and certified professional.
HEALTH INFORMATION
Camper health and safety is a top priority at YMCA Camp Lincoln. New Hampshire state law requires all children who attend camp in New Hampshire to provide vaccination and physical exam records. Please upload these forms to your online account, or email them to the camp office before your camper arrives at camp. Unfortunately, if a child arrives at camp without these documents on file, they will not be able to participate.
HEALTH FORMS
A copy of current physical exam, must be turned in each year, and must include:
-
An exam date within 24 months of camp
-
A doctor's signature
-
Clearance to participate in camp/school/sports
-
A copy of up to date vaccinations or notarized NH State Vaccination Exemption form.
MEDICATIONS
If your camper will need to take medication while at camp, a medication authorization form must be submitted before the first day of the session.
Medications must be provided in their original packaging, with the camper's name and date of birth on the container. Our camp nurse will store all medications, and administer them as needed. Campers are allowed and encouraged to carry their own inhalers or epi-pens.
BEHAVIOR
Camp Lincoln supports all children through the use of positive behavior guidance techniques. Camp Lincoln believes that engaging children in developmentally appropriate activities and providing positive social interactions is the best way to promote positive behavior. Staff members actively supervise children during all aspects of the program in order to model and encourage desired behaviors. It is understood that negative behaviors do occur. Staff members are trained to handle incidents by setting clear expectations and consistent consequences. In the event of behavior concerns, YMCA Camp Lincoln staff will follow the protocol outlined in the Parent Handbook.
