Traditional Day Camp and On-Site Specialty Camps

Counselor – Must be at least 16 years of age. Staff must assist with all aspects of Camp programs including: supervision of assigned campers, helping instruct program areas, planning and implementing special activities, and overall appearance and upkeep of Camp. Must possess skills to oversee, teach, and inspire children while always being a positive role model.

Waterfront Staff - This position requires the necessary skills and expectations of a Counselor as well as the ability to teach swimming, canoeing and kayaking. Staff is responsible for classes and ensuring the safety of the waterfront. Lifeguard certification is a requirement of this position.

Program Leader I– This position requires the necessary skills and expectations of a Counselor as well as the ability to lead a program area for one or two periods a day over a two week session. A leader in the Camp environment, this position requires the staff to plan, execute, and evaluate an activity area. Will be able to give guidance and provide expertise to other staff working in their activity area. Activity safety, identifying needed supplies, and equipment upkeep are key components to this position.

Lead Eagle Counselor - Since the Eagle Unit has a large amount of unstructured time that needs to be planned, a Lead Eagle Counselor has been added in this year to improve the quality of programs in this Unit. This position requires the necessary skills and expectations of a Counselor and Program Leader I, and will lead their activity area for 3 or 4 periods a day over a two week session.
 

Program Leader II - This position requires the necessary skills and expectations of a Counselor and Program Leader I, and will lead their activity area for 3 or 4 periods a day over a two week session. Leading two different program areas will also yield a Program Leader II status.

Specialty Camp Leader– This position requires the necessary skills and expectations of a Counselor and Program Leader I, and will lead their activity area for 3 or 4 periods a day over a two week session. On-Site Specialty Camps will be Archery, Art, Cooking, Dance, Fort Building, Mountain Biking, Outdoor Living Skills, Sports, and Woodworking.

Program Director – There will be a Program Director for the following areas of Camp: Archery, Arts and Crafts, Ropes Course, and Waterfront. These Directors will have all the expectations and skills for Counselor and Program Leader II as well as the following criteria; must have certification and/or experience in related field, have supervision experience, and possess the skills to plan, program and implement a high quality program. They will be able to give guidance and provide expertise to other staff working in their program area. Staff member is self-motivated and will always strive to improve their area. Position may require extra time with planning, set-up, take-down, training, and evaluation. Director must possess maturity to ensure that all staff and campers at the program area follow the YMCA Core Values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring while meeting the mission of YMCA Camp Lincoln.

CIT Director –Senior staff member responsible for all aspects of running Counselor In Training (CIT) program for 14 and 15 year olds including: camp programming, CIT recognition, behavior management, teambuilding and parent communication. Key components to this position consist of: supervision, training, guidance and evaluation. Director must be willing and able to work with other members of Senior Staff to assist in all phases of Camp program. Director must possess maturity to ensure that all CITs at Camp follow the YMCA Core Values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring while meeting the mission of YMCA Camp Lincoln. Position may require multiple overnights, in and out of Camp.

Unit Director – Senior staff member responsible for all aspects of running a unit including: camper programming, recognition, behavior management, staff scheduling and parent communication. Staff supervision, training, guidance and evaluation are key components to the job. Director must be willing and able to work with other members of Senior Staff to assist in all phases of Camp program. The Unit Director will oversee 100-125 campers and supervise 15 staff. Patience, professionalism, compassion, guidance and a willingness to go the extra mile are requirements for this position. There is an extra time commitment with this position. The Unit Director is critical to ensuring the success of the campers and staff in the unit by being a proven leader. This person needs to be a positive role model for campers, staff and peers at all times. The units are Eagles (grades K-2), Middlers (grades 3-5), Voyagers (grades 6-9), and Special Ops (Specialty Camps). Camp experience and previous supervision are a requirement.

Off-Site Specialty Camps

Travel Camp - A Travel Camp Counselor must be at least 16 years of age and possess the skills necessary to manage a group of campers in grades 1 – 6 on an out of camp field trip each day. The staff must ensure that YMCA Camp Lincoln is well represented while visiting areas in the Seacoast Regions of MA, NH, and ME. The right staff has excellent communication skills, ability to manage a group in public settings, willingness to try a variety of activities and a passion for travel.

On The Road - Must be 21 years of age and have a good driving record. This program takes campers grades 7 – 9 and enables them to plan their activities for the week under the guidance of our staff. The group of up to 13 teenagers is given a budget and activities must stay within those financial guidelines. Staff must ensure that all activities meet the goals and mission of YMCA Camp Lincoln. Flexibility, strong leadership, guidance, driving a minibus, and willingness to attend activities chosen by teens are a must for this position.

Adventure 101 Staff – Must be 21 years of age with a good driving record. This program takes day long adventure trips throughout the Seacoast region. Staff must possess outdoor skills in boating, hiking, climbing, biking, and teambuilding. The Adventure 101 staff will hopefully take their passion for the outdoors and help kinder that fire in the hearts of our young campers. Activity safety, travel planning, driving a minibus, identifying needed supplies, and equipment upkeep are key components for this position. The staff must ensure that YMCA Camp Lincoln is well represented while on trips out of Camp. Staff possess skills to oversee, teach, and inspire children while always being a positive role model for campers and staff.

Adventure Trips

Trip leaders must be 21 years old and have a clean driving record. Trip leaders are responsible for making final preparations for the week long, off-site trips that travel through New England and into Canada. Trip leaders must be able to set a positive example, incorporate Camp Lincoln’s values and traditions into daily living and ensure all staff and participants are positively representing YMCA Camp Lincoln. Trip Leaders must have experience with living in the outdoors, cooking, adventure activities, group management techniques and have wilderness first aid certification and experience. Trip Leaders must be able to: lead by example, ensure physical and emotional safety of participants and co-leader, manage trip expenses, manage personal time, resolve conflict, and communicate effectively with camp, co-leader, campers, and outfitters. Lifeguard certification a plus.
