Outdoor Education
At YMCA Camp Lincoln, we build Strong Kids, Strong Families and Strong Communities. We believe Outdoor Education plays an important role in the development of sound minds, bodies and spirits.
Students sit in school and read about scientific processes, habitats, and ecosystems in the text books. Camp Lincoln allows the students to come in to the woods and put their hands on the natural world. They have an opportunity to use all of there senses to experience what Earth Science is all about.
While learning on the trails and building self-confidance on the Challenge Course, all participants in our programs learn the necessary pieces to develop a strong community. Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Caring are the four character traits incorporated in to all of our programs. Our staff lead by example.
The overall purpose of the Outdoor Education Program is to facilitate growth in awareness, understanding, appreciation, and respect of our natural world. By joining one of our programs, participants will have fun, participante in hands-on activities and have experiences which act as a springboard for further exploration in and out of the classroom. The Camp Lincoln Outdoor Education Program is an excellent way to introduce students to the value of the environment - or reinforce lessons learned in a positive and nurturing environment. Our programs have an effect which lasts a lifetime.
