Camp Lincoln Summer Camp

Y-Arts Specialty Camp

Ages: entering grades 4 through 6

Counselor ratio 1:10

Cost: $200 per 1-week session

Y-Arts Specialty Camps stir creativity in campers bringing about their full potential in a particular area of art study.  The camp fee includes all of the necessary supplies and materials.

These older campers will concentrate on developing a specific medium.  Instruction addresses all skill levels.  Campers are not required to have any previous experience, just a willing spirit.

Campers will spend half of their day participating in activities geared for the theme.  The remaining time will be spent playing group games, exploring nature, playing sports and building community.

One week sessions run throughout the summer as follows:

Art & Nature   (June 18 - 22 and August 6 - 10)
Campers will go outside and explore.  Materials and ideas will be brought inside and turned in to art projects that will be shown-off during Family Night on Thursday.

Crayons, Markers & Paint   (June 25 - 29)
That is it - crayons, markers and paint.  Well, paper and material will be added.  Art will happen.  Come see what is created on Thursday’s Family Night.

Sculpting   (July 2 - 6)
Campers will learn how to sculpt creatures, figures and busts using easily moldable materials.  Creations will be on display during Family Night on Thursday.

Etch & Sketch   (July 9 - 13)
Simple lines and shading are key.  Come learn how to etch in pliable materials.  Sketching will happen on paper and explored as an accent with the etchings.  Displays will be set-up to show-off the art during Thursday night’s Family Night.

Weaving   (July 16 - 20 and August 13 - 17)
Using natural fibers, campers will learn how to weave functional items.  Campers will used supplied materials as well as materials collected from nature.  There will be a great display during Thursday’s Family Night.

Cartooning   (July 23 - 27)
Whether a flip book or a cartoon strip, campers will construct a cartoon.  Create your characters, choose your setting and develop your script to make the cartoon happen.  Creations will be on display during Thursday night’s Family Night.

Animation   (July 30 - August 3)
Different than cartooning, animation is making the characters move.  Explore claymation and simple movements in script to make your characters move!  Performances will be on Family Night on Thursday.

Acting Out   (August 20 - 24)
Lights, Camera, Action!  With a Family Night performance as the goal - plan, prepare and produce a performance to amuse the audience.  Everyone has a role from set design and costumes to performance and directing.  Come fill your role.
