Camp Lincoln Summer Camp
Y-Arts CIT Program
Ages: entering grades 7 and 8
Cost: $380 per 2-week session
This program is for campers who want an extended art experience and build their leadership skills that can be transferred to their school and community groups. These CITs (Counselors In Training) will spend half of their day working on their projects and the other half developing their leadership skills through observations, groups games and leading campers in the traditional Y-Arts programs.
With a concentration in a particular art medium, campers receive mentoring and training in leadership skills. Y-Arts CIT training runs for two-week sessions as follows:
Lights, Camera, Action (June 25 - July 6)
Campers will produce a performance at the end of this session. They will create, write, direct, and act their script. Through the process, they will explore and develop their leadership style. Acting and production is the vehicle to leadership development. The skills learned in this program are transferable to all aspects of the camper’s lives.
Internet & Paper (July 9 – 20)
Using multi-media presentations, these campers will use computers and old-fashioned paper to create their own art. Exploration of printing and publishing will help these campers find their niche and develop their leadership skills. A display of their finished products will be presented during the family night at the end of their session.
Movie Production (July 23 - August 3)
Campers will produce a “final cut” for presentation at Family Night. Using professional grade software, campers will plan, act and produce their masterpiece to be posted on YouTube. Through their creation, campers will explore their skills and become better leaders.
Etch, Sketch & Paint (August 6 - 17)
Campers will explore the arts of etching, sketching and painting to produce works to be on display during the Family Night at the end of their session. Through their art, they will learn leadership skills in teaching art as well as transferable skills to be used in everyday situations. The art projects will be accessible for beginners and activities will be advanced enough to keep practiced artisans engaged.
