Challenge Course and Ropes Course
|
Our Challenge Course and Ropes Course programs
work toward building self-confidence, honing
communication skills, developing critical thinking
skills and helping to establish the importance of
setting goals. Development of the individual
and group is facilitated through a series of active
and learning activities that follow
Challenge by
Choice
participation - participants are involved
at a level they are comfortable with. Participation
in our Outdoor Education program build their
self-confidnece and help to make our community a better place.
We begin every day with an introduction to the
program, our site, the YMCA's four Character
Traits
(Respect, Responsbility, Honesty and
Caring), and safety precautions. When a group
arrives at
the Challenge & Ropes Course, there
is additional information that must be shared.
Our staff covers
important expectations that
must be followed for everyone's safety -
emotionally and physically.
There is an aditional
ROPES COURSE WAIVER
that must be signed by all participants on the Challenge Course, Ropes Course and Climbing Wall. This waiver must be submitted to Camp Lincoln upon arrival the day of the program. All forms must be signed by a parent if the participant is under 18 years old. |
Group Initiatives
This activity is a part of every program. It allows the participants and instructors to get to know each other through fun games and simple challenges. It is a great way to get the group energized, working together and excited for the day!
Challenge Course
This program utilizes group games and our low course elements to begin establishing a cooperative and supportive group. As the group progresses, the challenges they are presented will become more intense and demanding. Critical thinking, communication, trust, and fun are the focus of this program.

High Ropes Course
Our High Ropes Course is used in conjunction with the Challenge Course to promote positive group dynamics and self-confidence. Groups take to the heights by ascending our poles and trees to traverse the Indiana Jones Bridge, cross the Cat Walk, reach across the Vine Grab or take the plunge off the Giant’s Swing. Trust, responsibility, and self-confidence are the goals of this program.

Climbing Wall
Students attempt to get to the top our 30-foot climbing wall while developing a new skill and being verbally supported by their group.
The climbing wall is the only part of the high ropes course that can be scheduled without the challenge course.
